The simple rolled brass tone ring on this banjo gives it a bit more brightness and cutting power than a wooden tone ring but still results in a fairly mellow open tone when compared to a tubaphone or whyte laydie. The fretboard inlay design is a Dragonfly made from Abalone and Mother of pearl. The design of the banjo is influenced by the stylistic elements of the Boucher banjos from the 1800's with a scroll headstock with a double ogee running under the line of the 5th string.
